Want to Create a Great Audiobook? Here's How to Get It Right
Creating a professional-sounding audiobook is totally doable—even if you're just getting started.
The most important step? Make sure your audio meets the ACX submission requirements.
If it doesn't, your audiobook might be rejected, no matter how great the narration is.
Here’s what ACX looks for in your audio:
Volume levels must stay within a specific range
Silence at the beginning and end needs to follow the exact timing rules
Types of noise, like background hums, static, or inconsistent room tone, must be avoided
Audio quality should be clean, clear, and technically polished
To make it through the review process, you need to check your audio against every ACX requirement. It’s all about consistency and meeting the technical standards.
Once you understand those, you’ll be able to confidently produce audio that’s ready for publishing.
Need help? I offer hands-on feedback through audiobook narration assignments. You can record using any software you’re comfortable with—Audacity, Adobe Audition, or anything else.
Once you submit your assignment, I’ll personally review your audio and give you clear, detailed feedback to help you improve.
This process has helped many people sharpen their skills and prepare audiobooks that sound great and meet all ACX standards.
