The Real Reason Audio Editing Confuses Everyone (Except Audio Engineers)

Why does audio editing feel so complex?

It looks like everyone is having difficulty with audio editing software except the audio engineers.

It looks like the audio engineers know some magic and do things effortlessly with a few clicks here and there.

But why do other people find it so difficult?

I have worked with people from very different professions, and almost everyone struggles with it at some point.

My clients include doctors, engineers, university professors, financial strategists, radio and TV actors, Hollywood actors, and many other jobs I don’t know about.

Well, the reason is that there are 2 components of audio editing.

The first one is that you have to know where to click in your audio editing software and which configuration to set.

The second reason is why those settings? There is no magic configuration that will work every time for everyone in this world.

It varies from person to person, and you need to understand which suits you.

Most people do not put enough effort into finding the answer to why.

So next time you get advice like “Normalize to -3 dB” or “use this noise reduction configuration” or “use these compressor settings“, you should ask why?

Audio editing will become natural if you can ask and answer that question.

Through my courses and consulting services, I have taught thousands of people. Those who searched for the why eventually became successful.
