Promotion - Voice Over assignments
Broadly speaking, there are two types of voice-over artists.
Type 1 is who are overwhelm with the number of jobs they get. They get so many jobs that they pick which one they will do and increase their chances.
Type 2 is on the opposite end. They struggle to get voice over jobs and they do not know the solution of their situation.
Please note that a Type 1 situation does not happen overnight. There are some processes and methods to reach that level.
Most people dream of type 1, and that’s why people take expensive voice-over coaching and training programs.
If you are in Type 2 category, then what would be the first step for you to become Type 1.
Well, the logical next step to win more voice over auditions or getting noticed by voice over agents and producers.
How can you win more voice-over auditions? Here, things get a bit tricky, and many people operate on the false assumption.
Let’s imagine for a moment, you have voice like Morgan Freeman. You would think, if I just record my voice or talk in front of microphone, I will get the job.
This assumption is not only wrong but also dangerous. I see people fall into this trap over and over.
No matter how good your voice is or how good your acting is, if your voice-over demos don’t reflect your ability, you are going nowhere.
Now, imagine another situation. Money is not a problem for you.
You hired an audio engineer to your disposal. Every time you record something, the audio engineer process it.
You will be a successful voice over professional pretty soon. Because, voice editing is no longer your bottleneck.
You can produce unlimited voice-over demos as recording is the primary thing you need to do.
You are producing so many pro quality demo for in a so little time, you are most likely to discovered very fast.
But this was a hypothetical situation. It would cost thousands of dollar per month to hire a such dedicated audio engineer.
Unless you know you are going to earn hundreds of thousand of dollars very fast, you can’t hire such a person.
So what is the next best thing you can do? Well, you yourself can become the audio engineer.
However, becoming such an audio engineer level skilled will take a couple of years.
Then, what can you do? Well, you can follow the steps followed by the audio engineer.
You can learn the thing step by step and apply to your audio. If you have the step by step guide, you will become better at this process over time.
As you can produce good quality voice-over on your own, you will build demos frequently.
As you do that more often, there will be lots of professional quality demos from you.
And you will get noticed or picked for voice over jobs as you have lots of high quality demos.
And then you head towards becoming Type 1 voice over artist.
All seems to good to be true, but I have developed something for you do achieve what I described above.
I have compiled a list of 15-20 assignments for producing pro-quality voice-over demos.
