Yes, it sounds very basic, but it is preventing most people from achieving their voice over success

This problem is unrelated to microphone quality. I have seen the issue with both low-budget and expensive microphones.

In fact, if you don’t know how to achieve the correct recording level, it does not matter which microphone you use.

You will always make the same mistake. But how costly is this mistake?

Well, it is difficult to measure in $, but let’s see what issues you have to deal with:

  • Audio processing becomes tricky; audio engineer level skill is required to fix

  • Clipping and distortions become non-fixable

  • Obvious background noise issues were overlooked; had to record again

  • Mouth clicks, lip smacks, or mouth noises were hidden, only revealed after final processing

  • Room echo or strong reverb problem hampered the listening quality, which is not acceptable on many platforms

  • You get the wrong idea of audio quality; You think it is smooth and crisp sounding, only to find out later it is harsh and thin sounding.
