Is it possible to learn complete Audiobook editing in 7 days (with Audacity)?)

I will give you a simple 7-step formula for learning audiobook editing. If you are starting out, follow these steps.

If you already started but can’t find the proper direction, retrace your path using this guide.

Step 1: Learn how to achieve proper input level in the recording. The recording meter should not cross -6 dB and hit around -12 dB. Adjust the gain knob on your microphone, audio interface, and audacity meter slider to achieve such a level.

Step 2: Learn to adjust loudness after recording. This means achieving the peak and RMS levels to ACX standards. To achieve a loudness level as you wish, you must learn only two effects: Normalize and Compressor.

Step 3: Learn the Noise gate effect. It will help you achieve a noise floor level that meets ACX standards.

Step 4: Learn to build a Macro. Put all the necessary effects inside a macro, and your processing will be done with a click.

Step 5: Learn the Marker and Dog Clicker recording techniques. You will be amazed at how much time you can save by following these techniques. Your editing time will be reduced by at least 70%.

Step 6: Learn the basics of cut/paste and recording in another track. Combining these, you can fix any recording that was not right the first time.

Step 7: Learn how to export Audio files for ACX and give them a proper name following ACX standards.

That’s it! You now have the skill to produce audiobooks following ACX standards.

There should not be any excuse for not learning the steps mentioned above. If you give an excuse, you are not ready for audiobook narration.

You can learn the above steps on your own. There are tons of free information available on YouTube.
